Goal Of The Month: No Music in the Car

This goal of the month proved to be much harder than last month’s Vegetarian for a Month.  After being inspired by a sermon at church, I decided not to listen to music in the car; I wanted to open myself up to hearing God’s voice.  It was hard at first (I nearly broke after the first day), but kept with it, even while dog sitting in the south and driving 1-3 hours per day.

I liked how I was able to have time to think things through, meditate on Bible verses and sing worship songs.  I must say that I’m looking forward to having the option of turning on the radio or listening to a CD while driving tomorrow, but I have learned that sometimes silence is good as well!

Great idea for a goal! It makes me wonder how many times I’ve been too distracted to hear God talking to me. (The answer is ‘a lot’.)

It took a while to get used to. Today I was halfway to work before I realized I could listen to music. But I chose to leave it off… we’ll see how long it lasts!
